It does not rain in Idaho like it does in New Jersey!
Really though, walking outside in the rain that happens here is like
taking a shower, with really high water pressure. It's insane! Thursday
we got to walk everywhere because it was Car Fast day throughout the
mission, and it was such a rainy day! When we got to Nina's house she
got so concerned with how wet we were. I looked like a wet dog. My hair
was sick. Let's be honest, it was hot, while it was rainy, and we were
wearing coats to be dry. So basically the reason we were wet was not
only because of the rain. In short, Sister Jeppson would NOT have
approved our appearance that night. Not having lipgloss handy or enough
blush on our cheeks was the least of our worries. Bah. I loved it!
Guess who else got wet?! NINA! She is baptized!!! This Sunday
she will be confirmed and become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter Day Saints! Her son is now going to be taking the lessons and
we are praying for the Lord's guidance as we teach him exactly what he
needs to know to know that this church is true. It will be wonderful if
this family can be united in the waters of baptism and then take some
ancestral names to the temple to bless the rest of their family! Nina is
really excited about that. President asked us the key to this baptism
happening so quickly- it was definitely the members. She felt so loved
and like she had so many good friends, and they came with us to teach
her and got her number and checked up on her and provided a babysitter
for her. She began to say, "our church" instead of "the church" and
"your church" and that was when we knew it was time. 5 days after her
first time at church! And she is so excited to be helping us teach her
friends now! This is how missionary work gets done- through members. As
members become excited about bringing those they love into the gospel,
then the investigators feel loved and know that it is only for their
good, rather than just weird people dressed up knocking on their door
offering 'eternal life.' Oh, and we also got asked if we were "a step
below amish" this week! hahaha that makes you take a second thought
about the skirt you put on that morning.
The gospel is true.
God works through families to bless its members. We had hardly any money
for groceries this week because the money system was frozen, and guess
whose dad sent them $20 randomly for lunch? My companion's. Heavenly
Father blesses us as we strive to do our best and be obedient.
I love Spanish.
Love you!
