"New District Leader" -Email 01/13/2014

This past week we started a new transfer, which is always exciting. We have a new District Leader, one of our good friends who is pretty young in the mission and he will be amazing! His name is Elder Townsend, and he had to deal with a lot coming from our apartment of Sisters in his first week...

1. Monday night we called our new District Leader after receiving a call from a recent convert that we have been teaching, inviting me, in all seriousness, to go to Costa Rica with him and play on the beaches. I just wanted to make sure that it was approved and all, so after a quick shopping trip to Kohl's to get a new suit, I was out the door and had a fun week in the sun!

Just kidding.

Haha well needless to say, our new District Leader got the opportunity to decide how to handle that situation. It was decided that that recent convert would be handed over the Elders to teach from now on. After some moaning from the recent convert and some texts to which we did not respond, he is officially in the Elders' hands and was able to receive the Priesthood on Sunday. Good for him :) He should be going to Costa Rica sometime this next month...

2. Thursday night the Sisters that we live with got a call from a member who is an amazing missionary, but can be a little over zealous sometimes. The sister that is now running the Short Hills English area is fairly new, and as she tried to follow rules and make sure that investigators were handed off to the correct missionaries, this member got very angry and ended up calling the Assistants to the President. Our District Leader got the opportunity to make the decision on how to best help this Sister get over the emotional trauma that sometimes occurs when adults act inappropriately and get angry...

3. Saturday night we got home from an exchange, which went really well, in the Scotch Plains English area. My body had been pretty sick all week, and it kind of just gave in. I crashed for a few hours, until I woke up feeling really yucky in the middle of the night. My companion called our new District Leader to ask him for an emergency blessing... and all four of those good Elders tromped over to our apartment in the middle of the night in their pajamas to help me out. I went to church the next day but was on my back for the rest of the afternoon, and by the time our District Leader called for the Sunday evening accountability call where we talk about our week and what can be improved, we had written him a song, congratulating him on surviving his first week as our new District Leader. I am sure he can't wait for 5 more!

So, there it is. We were able to see a few miracles this week, and teach people, and help missionaries come closer to Christ. It was a good week, and a crazy week, and I am going to go take a nap now. Love you all!

Love
Hermana Millward
